Victoria Island nightlife heavyweight Vaniti Lagos has issued a strong denial of viral allegations that it sells fake or adulterated alcohol, calling the claims “serious and completely false.”
The high-end club, owned by Forbes-rated socialite Uyi Ogbebor (Sir Uyi), broke its silence after a trending video accused the venue of serving counterfeit drinks. In a three-page statement, Vaniti declared: “Vaniti has NEVER sold fake or adulterated drinks. Not once. Not ever.”
The club stated that every bottle is purchased directly from brand companies, not through third parties. “Vaniti holds official brand partnerships with these companies, partnerships worth millions and renewed annually.”
To back its claims, Vaniti published supplier letters. Celebr8 Lyfe Pvt Ltd, the authorised sales partner for Diageo Nigeria, confirmed Vaniti purchases original products. Global Fine Wines & Spirits Ltd, the official Moët Hennessy distributor in Nigeria, also confirmed Vaniti procures directly from them.
The club shared invoices, including a Celebr8 Lyfe invoice for Don Julio 1942 and a Global Wines quote exceeding N20 million.
Vaniti questioned the video source, noting the individual “does not appear to be based in Nigeria,” and suggested a “coordinated attempt by competitors to tarnish the VANITI brand.”
“We have our receipts and contracts and the full support of our partners. The truth always wins,” the club stated. Vaniti vowed to protect its reputation.
