President Bola Tinubu has appointed former beauty queen Ambassador Bianca Ojukwu as Nigeria’s new Minister of Foreign Affairs.
Bianca, who once ruled the pageant world as Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria in 1989, went on to win Miss Africa 1989 in Gambia and made history as the first African to claim the Miss Intercontinental crown.
She also represented Nigeria at Miss World and Miss Universe, and charmed her way to Miss Congeniality at Miss Charm in Russia.
Now she swaps sashes for statecraft, moving from her previous role as Minister of State for Foreign Affairs to the top diplomatic seat.
She replaces Yusuf Tuggar, who stepped down to race for the 2027 elections. She is also a principal Board of Trustees member of APGA, the party founded by her late husband.
