Nigeria’s representative at the 73rd Miss World Pageant, Tamunosoye “Soye” Karibi-George, has broken her silence after reaching the Top 12, releasing a message of gratitude that has moved thousands of Nigerians to tears.
“From the moment I stepped into this journey as Nigeria’s representative at the 73rd Miss World Pageant, I knew I was never walking alone,” she wrote.
Soye, who earlier made history as Miss World Top Model Africa, credited her Top 12 placement to the votes of Nigerians who refused to look away.
“Today, as I reflect on reaching the Top 12 through your votes, my heart is filled with gratitude. This milestone belongs to everyone who believed, voted, shared, encouraged and stood behind me. You made it possible.”
Her words carried the weight of a young woman who understood that the crown was never only hers. She thanked her sponsors, partners, government officials, ministries and state governments. She thanked the Miss World Nigeria Organisation and the team working behind the scenes.
And she thanked every Nigerian who voted, shared a post, sent a message, said a prayer, or simply cheered her on.
“To everyone who believed in Beyond Labels and Beauty With a Purpose, thank you for helping me amplify a cause so close to my heart — inclusion, equal opportunities and a world where no one is defined by a label.”
That cause, disability inclusion, was the heartbeat of her campaign. It travelled with her from Port Harcourt to Vietnam, from the national stage to the world stage.
“I carry your love with me, always,” she wrote.
She signed off simply: With all my heart, Tamunosoye “Soye” Karibi-George, Miss World Nigeria 2026.
For Nigerians who watched her rise, the message landed hard. She had carried the flag with grace. She had won Top Model Africa. She had reached the Top 12. And she had done it while speaking about the people the world often overlooks.
