Port Harcourt’s most inclusive honours night is back. The Port Harcourt Magazine Awards (PHMA) 2025 will take place on Saturday, September 13, at The Ark Event Centre, located opposite Bori Camp, Rumuola, with the theme “Blue Minds Away.” Billed as “the biggest and most anticipated night of honour,” the ceremony will spotlight excellence across the city’s creative, corporate, civic, and lifestyle sectors.

In the build-up, organisers have also teased a “Blue Rivers” banner for August 31—the awards’ 5th edition—signalling an expanded celebration season for the PHMA brand this year.

A platform built in Port Harcourt, for Port Harcourt

The magazine was founded in 2018 by Kendrick Christian, the publisher and CEO of Port Harcourt Magazine (PHM), which recognizes individuals and brands whose work elevates the Garden City. Past honourees include Sabinus, Queen Wokoma, Jikume, Victor Oko-Jumbo, KO Baba, Matilda Lambert, and Stephano Piotti, among others. The magazine itself is known for its bi-monthly print and online editions and was named Print Media Company of the Year (2022).

“Big Announcement!! Port Harcourt Magazine Awards ‘Blue Rivers Edition’ holds on the 31st of August, 2025! Join us in this amazing journey to celebrate greatness,” the team announced, as preparations ramp up toward the September gala.

Why PHMA matters

PHMA is uniquely broad, touching nearly every sphere of city life—fashion, music, governance, education, hospitality, pageantry, and more—while keeping its judging ethos: credible, impartial recognition of hard work and resilience. The awards also serve as a convening point for the South-South’s creative economy, connecting media, brands, public servants, and culture shapers in one room.

Salute to the organisers

Credit to Kendrick Christian and the Port Harcourt Magazine team for consistently building a homegrown honour that reflects the city’s ambition and diversity—and for keeping the spotlight firmly on local stories and success.
