In a giant leap for Nigerian and African representation in space, a young scholar from the north has shattered a historic barrier. Fauziyya Muhammad Auwal has been selected as the country’s first female astronaut candidate with Titans Space Industries, marking a transformative moment for women in science.
Currently a Master’s student in Physics at Kaduna State University and a Research Fellow at Copperbelt University, Auwal’s focus on space physics has propelled her into an elite global program. She is now enrolled in the Research and Development Astronaut Program under the Titans Space Agency, the training institute of Titans Space Industries.

Her achievement resonates far beyond personal success. Born and raised in Northern Nigeria, Auwal’s journey challenges regional and gender stereotypes, proving that intellectual ambition can flourish against significant odds.
In a field where African women remain drastically underrepresented, her selection is a powerful beacon, demonstrating that the final frontier is within reach for those with dedication and a pioneering spirit.
Auwal’s story is a catalyst, inspiring a new generation of Nigerian girls to look at the stars and see a place for themselves.
