The Vice President of the Republic of Colombia, Francia Márquez, has arrived in Abuja for a three-day official visit to Nigeria.
She was accompanied by her spouse, Rafael Yerney Pinillo Ocoró, and a high-level delegation of cabinet ministers, senior government officials, and business leaders. On arrival at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, the Colombian Vice President was warmly received by the Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, Chief Uche Nnaji; Minister of Women Affairs, Hon. Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim; Minister of State for the FCT, Dr. Mariya Mahmud Bunkure; Director General of NEMA, Mrs. Zubaida Umar, alongside other senior officials.
The visit is expected to deepen diplomatic and strategic relations between Nigeria and Colombia, with engagements across key areas such as governance, trade, agriculture, energy, education, and security.
A major highlight will be the signing of Memoranda of Understanding in strategic sectors including women empowerment, aviation, manufacturing, agriculture, and culture. In addition, both countries will host a Nigeria-Colombia Business Forum, plenary sessions with both Vice Presidents, and high-level government-to-government meetings.
The program also features side events, including sectoral meetings organized by the Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment, and a landmark summit on Artificial Intelligence, underscoring both nations’ commitment to innovation-driven partnerships.
Her Excellency Márquez’s visit signals a new chapter in Nigeria-Colombia relations, strengthening cooperation and creating fresh opportunities for growth and collaboration.
