An American TikTok creator has turned to the platform for help identifying an Afrobeats song, drawing a wave of responses from fans worldwide and highlighting the global reach of Nigerian music.
The creator, known as TherealNana, posted a video asking her followers for the title of a track with a distinctive hook.
“TikTok, I need your help. What’s that Afrobeats song that goes ‘willy-willy wana-wana’?” she asked.
Commenters identified the track as “Nakupenda” by TxC, Davido, Shoday and Scotts Maphuma, featuring Zlatan and Al Xapo. The specific line comes from Zlatan’s verse, where he interpolates a classic Nigerian rhythm as a throwback reference.
The lyrics in Zlatan’s verse include: “She gimme willy-willy wana-wana, tinini-tanana. Amapiano, this one no be galala. She no dey give me wahala.”
That line isn’t random. Zlatan is nodding to an old-school Nigerian record by Maleke, dragging a decades-old rhythm into a 2026 crossover hit. A throwback buried inside a global anthem, and a stranger on the internet heard it first.
The exchange shows how Nigerian rhythms keep travelling on melody alone, with half-remembered syllables. The track blends Afrobeats and Amapiano elements, a combination that has driven chart success across the continent and beyond.
One woman’s confused ear turned it into a worldwide scavenger hunt, and Nigeria won it again.
The song remains available on major streaming platforms.
