Amaka Ubaka is set to leave an indelible mark on the city’s academic scene this June. The celebrated WHDH-TV 7NEWS Morning Anchor has been selected to deliver the commencement addresses at not one, but two major Boston high schools: Madison Park Technical Vocational High School in Roxbury and Excel High School in South Boston.
Ubaka, who recently returned from a rejuvenating vacation in Saint Lucia, shared her excitement about the honor: “I am honored to be asked to be the Commencement speaker at two high schools here in Boston! Looking back on high school—it was a mix of emotions—excitement, filled with fear of what comes next. What’s the plan? I’m looking forward to hopefully inspiring the next generation of graduates to go out into the world to pursue whatever dreams they can conceive. Congratulations to all the graduates of the Class of 2025!”
Both schools hailed Ubaka as a powerful role model whose resilience, success, and passion for community storytelling have inspired many. As a Nigerian-American trailblazer, Amaka embodies the spirit of perseverance and the power of representation—reminding graduates that every dream is valid, and every background is a launchpad.
