As the year winds down and the legendary “Detty December” season approaches, the Nigerian music scene has been gifted its official soundtrack.
Young Jonn, the award-winning producer turned pop sensation, has teamed up with global superstar Rema for “Lalala,” a track that is already being hailed as the feel-good anthem of 2025.
Released as the second single from Young Jonn’s upcoming project Blue Disco, “Lalala” is a sonic celebration designed for “fine girls everywhere” and the lovers who hype them. It is a track pulsating with the unmistakable energy of a Lagos December—breezy, infectious, and tailored for outdoor vibes.
John Saviours Udomboso, famously known as Young Jonn “The Wicked Producer,” has been the architect of the Nigerian street sound since the mid-2000s. His transition from behind the boards to the forefront of the stage, solidified by his signing to Chocolate City and the release of his debut album Jiggy Forever in 2024, has been seamless.
On “Lalala,” he brings his signature “Jiggy” sound—a vibrant fusion of Afro-pop and street-hop sensibilities—and pairs it with Rema’s “Afrorave” dynamism.
The song is a masterclass in collaboration. Young Jonn lays down an infectious melody that serves as the perfect canvas for Rema’s smooth, versatile vocals. The lyrics are a playful ode to confidence and beauty, capturing the essence of a season where everyone is out to look their best and feel “themselves.”
The accompanying music video is a visual feast, translating the song’s energy into a vibrant display of color, fashion, and movement. It showcases the chemistry between two artists at the top of their game, one a legendary hitmaker who has broken iconic artists, and the other a global phenomenon taking African music to new heights.
With “Lalala,” Young Jonn continues his impressive run of hits following “Big Big Things” and “Aquafina.”
