The incarcerated artist, calling into the “Worldwide Wake Up” show, also dropped a bombshell announcement of an upcoming collaboration with Nigerian superstar Davido.

Speaking with the hosts of the premier Hip Hop station, which recently launched its television broadcast, Kartel expressed a deep desire to connect with the continent. “I’m going to Africa this year. I’ve never been to Africa,” he stated, before turning his attention to the legendary culinary debate. “Never had jollof rice… I think it’s Nigerian, right?”

The artist, whose real name is Adidja Palmer, spoke passionately about his longing to visit. “That’s messed up. That should be illegal for a Black man, I know,” he joked. “I love my African brothers and sisters, man. Remember, that’s our headquarters. That’s the HQ, that’s where we’re from.”

The hosts assured him he would be “well received” in the motherland, noting the massive love for his music across the continent.

Just as the interview seemed to be wrapping up, Kartel delivered a second, even bigger exclusive. “I also have a song with Davido coming soon,” he revealed casually. “Look out for that one. Nobody knows yet… I just gave you two exclusives.”

The host reacted with excitement, exclaiming, “Yo, y’all heard it here first. Worldwide Wake Up. Listen, y’all see what we’re doing out here.”

The upcoming track promises to be a monumental fusion of Dancehall and Afrobeats, uniting two of the most powerful forces in global Black music. While fans eagerly await details on Kartel’s potential travel, the announcement of a track with Davido has already become one of the most anticipated musical events of the year.
