South African travel content creator Nonto Li is set to kick off her 2026 travels with a trip to Nigeria, but not before expressing her astonishment at the country’s visa fee for a single entry.
In a recent video, Li revealed her plans to visit the West African nation, a trip she has long dreamed of. However, she was taken aback by the cost. “Please tell me why I have to pay 314 US dollars for a single entry,” she remarked. “Yeah, I’m not happy about that.”
Despite her surprise at the price, Li confirmed that her desire to see the country outweighed the cost. “I’m the one who wants to go to Nigeria, so I’m going to do the right thing,” she stated, adding that she has successfully paid for and received her visa “with no wahala.”
For Li, who grew up in South Africa and now lives abroad, the trip is part of a larger personal goal to travel more extensively across the African continent. She explained her philosophy, inspired by a common traveller’s mantra: “Go see for yourself. Don’t listen to what people are saying.”
“I want to go see what this giant of Africa is all about,” she said enthusiastically. “I’m ready to experience the culture, I’m ready to experience art, I’m ready to see the fashion. But most importantly, I am ready to see Nigeria through the eyes of the local.”
