“Real Housewives of Potomac” couple Wendy and Eddie Osefo have been charged in Maryland after a grand jury indictment accused them of filing a false burglary and insurance claim linked to their home.

According to court records, Wendy Osefo, 41, faces 16 counts, including multiple felony charges for providing false or misleading information and making false statements to police. Her husband, Eddie Osefo, also 41, faces 18 charges, including nine felonies.
The pair was taken into custody on Thursday in Westminster, Maryland, and released on $50,000 bond each.

Authorities say the case began when the Osefos reported a burglary at their Finksburg residence on April 7, 2024, claiming over $200,000 in jewelry, luxury clothing, and designer accessories had been stolen while they were vacationing in Jamaica.
However, investigators say the story began to unravel. Detectives allege the couple returned $20,000 worth of the reported stolen items to retail stores and even found photos showing one of them wearing jewelry that was supposedly missing after the alleged break-in.

Police also cited inconsistencies in their account, including undisturbed alarm systems and security footage showing no sign of intrusion. A search warrant later led to the arrest of the couple.
In a statement, a spokesperson for the Osefos said they are “home and in good spirits”, adding: “They are grateful for the outpouring of concern and support from friends, fans, and colleagues. The Osefos, alongside their legal team, look forward to their day in court. They ask for privacy as they focus on their family and the legal process ahead.”

Wendy, a Johns Hopkins professor and political commentator, joined “Real Housewives of Potomac” in 2020, quickly earning a reputation for her intellect and confidence. Her husband, Eddie, is an attorney and founder of the cannabis lifestyle brand Happy Eddie.
This legal turmoil follows the recent release of fellow RHOP star Karen Huger, who completed a one-year sentence for DUI-related charges.

The Osefos are expected to appear in court later this month to answer the charges.
