President Bola Tinubu will leave Abuja on Thursday, August 14, for a two-nation trip to Japan and Brazil, with a brief stopover in Dubai, UAE.
In Yokohama, Japan, the President will attend TICAD9 (Aug 20–22), themed “Co-create Innovative Solutions with Africa.” He will join plenary sessions on private investment, innovation, and institutional reforms, and hold bilateral meetings with Japanese officials and CEOs with footprints in Nigeria. TICAD—launched in 1993 and co-hosted by the UN, UNDP, AUC, and World Bank—is a triennial forum alternating between Japan and Africa; the last edition was in Tunisia (Aug 2022).
After TICAD9, President Tinubu travels to Brasília for a two-day state visit (Aug 24–25) at the invitation of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva. The agenda includes a bilateral meeting, a business forum with Brazilian investors, and the signing of cooperation agreements and MoUs. He will be accompanied by key ministers and senior officials.
