In a striking display of hands-on leadership, His Majesty Ogiame Atuwatse III CFR, the Olu of Warri, personally inspected the newly completed Warri Trans Ode-Itsekiri Road and Access Bridges project, navigating the 20.9km stretch on a scooter.

The unique inspection marked the triumphant finale of a two-decade effort to connect the ancient riverine capital of Ode-Itsekiri to the mainland.

The King’s scooter tour highlighted the road’s readiness and its direct impact on over ten coastal communities in Warri South Local Government Area, including Ugbodede, Usele, Ajigba, Orugbo, and the ancestral capital Ode-Itsekiri itself. For generations, these areas were accessible only by water.

Conceived nearly 20 years ago, the project, featuring 15 bridges, has been hailed by Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori as a “landmark achievement” and a fulfilled promise. Now complete, the road is a catalyst for economic growth and integration and is scheduled for formal commissioning in the first quarter of 2026.
