Nigeria’s Mercy Babajide unveils ‘Iya Ibeji’ masterpiece for Miss Aura national costume show

Miss Aura Nigeria 2025, Mercy Babajide, is serving pure Yoruba regality with her divine national costume ahead of the Miss Aura International pageant. The stunning ensemble, titled Iya Ibeji — meaning “Mother of Twins” — is a tribute to the sacred role of twin-bearing women in Yoruba culture.

The gold-laced, cowrie-draped masterpiece is a walking shrine of elegance and heritage. Adorned in white and gold satin ruffles, with cowries and shimmering beads raining from her shoulders, Mercy’s costume features two sculpted twin figures mounted on her back — symbolizing the spiritual and cultural reverence of the Ibeji. In Yoruba tradition, twins are not just children, but carriers of wealth, healing, and celestial balance.

The headgear? A towering crown of feathers and gold brilliance, radiating the divine glory of motherhood. Her fingers glisten with long, golden spikes — a symbol of strength, protection, and sacred femininity.

Mercy shared the look with a heartfelt caption: “IYA IBEJI honors the revered role of the mother of twins in Yoruba culture, celebrating her strength, grace, and spiritual significance…”
