Nigerian Afrobeats sensation Ayra Starr has joined forces with South Korean DJ and producer Peggy Gou on “Wo,man,” a vibrant summer anthem that merges electronic music, house grooves, and contemporary Afropop into an infectious global release.
The track, out June 26 via XL Recordings, arrives as the latest chapter in a growing partnership between the two artists. They previously collaborated on Gou’s remix of Starr’s hit “Where Do We Go” in April.
“Wo,man” is built on pulsating rhythms, hypnotic synths, and uplifting melodies, with Starr’s captivating vocals gliding effortlessly across Gou’s polished production.
The Korean DJ described the collaboration as a natural fusion of their worlds, noting that Starr immediately understood the energy of the track, resulting in a balance of “sexiness and swag.” Starr echoed the sentiment, calling the entire process a “perfect summer vibe.”
“My new song ‘Wo,man’ is out now! I couldn’t think of anyone better than Ayra to bring that sexy energy and voice to this track. Thank you for being a part of it @ayrastarr. Hope you guys enjoy,” Gou said.
“Wo,man” champions the value of independence and the joy of solidarity, delivering an empowering message for the dancefloor.
The release also marks a celebratory milestone for Gou, who launched a one-day pop-up boutique in East London, giving away personal archive items to fans.
The collaboration adds to Ayra Starr’s landmark year, which includes her NPR Tiny Desk debut. With “Wo,man,” the Mavin Records star continues to prove why she remains one of Africa’s most versatile and globally sought‑after artists, bridging Afrobeats with the pulse of international dance music.
