Darkoo released her new single “That Girl” featuring Afrobeats star Asake on 6 August 2026, marking the first official collaboration between the two acts.
The track dropped at 8 PM UK time across all major streaming platforms. It fuses Darkoo’s melodic delivery with Asake’s Fuji-inspired street-pop sound.
According to an exclusive interview with Billboard Africa, Darkoo wrote the song nearly a year ago with a South African artist initially in mind. She later reworked the vocals on her own in her car before reaching out to Asake to complete the final version.
“That Girl” is billed as a summer afro-fusion release. Streaming figures from the first 24 hours are expected later this week.
Both artists move in overlapping UK-Nigerian music circles but have not appeared on a record together before now.
