A Nigerian medical graduate, Jegede obtained his medical degree from the University of Ibadan before pursuing advanced training in the United States.

His research focuses on developing a culturally adapted contingency management intervention for adults with stimulant use disorder, particularly targeting cocaine and methamphetamine addiction among African American and other underserved communities.

“This award reflects Dr Jegede’s exceptional potential to reduce disparities in addiction care,” a Yale spokesperson said. His work aims to improve treatment engagement and advance health equity through community‑centered, culturally responsive approaches.

Jegede will also present at national Clinical and Translational Science Awards meetings and participate in Yale research events, including the Janeway Society Annual Retreat.
