In a significant demonstration of excellence, Nigerian Air Force Pilot Officer YB Usman has won the prestigious BAE Systems Trophy at the Royal Air Force (RAF) College in Cranwell, United Kingdom.

The award was presented during the Passing Out Parade for the Modular Initial Officer Training Course No. 38 on December 18, 2025. It is given to the RAF or international cadet who achieves the highest marks in professional studies.

Officer Usman’s triumph distinguishes him among a highly competitive cohort of British and international cadets, successfully projecting Nigeria’s military prowess on a global stage.

The Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, hailed the achievement as a source of pride for the service and the nation. “This outstanding performance reflects the quality of training, discipline, and values of the Nigerian Air Force,” he stated, adding that it reinforces confidence in the ability of young Nigerian officers to excel internationally.

This accomplishment underscores the ongoing professional cooperation between the Nigerian Air Force and the RAF, following a pattern of Nigerian officers undergoing rigorous training at the esteemed UK institution.

Officer Usman, who began the course on May 17, 2025, was commended for upholding the highest standards of professionalism throughout the demanding program.
