Nigeria is set to play Cameroon in the quarterfinals of the 2025 Women’s AfroBasket tournament in Côte d’Ivoire. This follows Cameroon’s 85-64 victory over Angola in a playoff game.
Nigeria’s D’Tigress secured their quarterfinal spot by winning both of their Group D matches against Rwanda and Mozambique. They are the reigning African champions and are aiming for their fifth consecutive title, having won the last four editions of the AfroBasket tournament (2017, 2019, 2021, and 2023). Nigeria is currently ranked 8th in the FIBA World Rankings for women’s basketball.
Cameroon finished second in Group B with one win and one loss, having defeated South Sudan but falling to Mali. Their win against Angola was their first-ever victory over the two-time African champions.
The quarterfinal match between Nigeria and Cameroon is scheduled for Thursday, July 31st.
