African Run Archery Tournament

Team Nigeria has made history in Abidjan, storming the inaugural African Run Archery Tournament with a clean sweep of gold medals and a display of athletic dominance that left the continent in awe.

The two-day championship, held on November 15–16 at the Palais des Sports de Treichville, marked the first time Africa hosted the hybrid sport, and Nigeria wasted no time establishing itself as the frontline powerhouse.

Represented by Zen Archery Club, Lagos, the Nigerian squad combined blistering speed with elite marksmanship to outclass opponents across West Africa. In the Individual Sprint, Emmanuel Oyeleke delivered a commanding performance to clinch gold, showcasing flawless transitions between running and shooting. His teammate, Tola Adebayo-Lateef, followed closely to secure silver, sealing a Nigerian 1–2 finish. Ivory Coast’s Obo Cedric claimed the bronze, but the top of the podium belonged to the green-white-green.

Nigeria’s supremacy continued in the Team Relay Sprint, where Oyeleke and Tola united to execute a seamless, high-tempo run that earned the nation another gold medal.

Calling the win a “historic moment,” Oyeleke praised the organisers and celebrated Nigeria’s rising profile in African archery. With grassroots development led by Zen Archery Club and ARCH Club Abuja, Nigeria is rapidly evolving from contender to continental standard-bearer.
