At a major Pan-African cultural event, former Ghanaian President John Dramani Mahama will be conferred a Yoruba chieftaincy title by the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi Ojaja II, on December 15, 2025.

The ceremony, part of celebrations for the Ooni’s 10th coronation anniversary, will confer the title “Aare Atayeto Oodua of the Source” (A President who Reorganises the Global Space for Humanity). Installations will occur at the Ile Oduduwa Palace (11 AM) and the Ojaja Arena (3 PM).

This event strengthens deep historical ties, as some Ghanaian communities trace their ancestry to Ile-Ife. It highlights the Ooni’s role as a cultural unifier and promoter of African heritage.
