Nigeria’s creative economy has taken another giant leap forward as the Federal Ministry of Arts, Culture, Tourism, and the Creative Economy announced a groundbreaking partnership with South Korean live-streaming giant SOOP Co. Ltd.

The deal, officially signed by Minister Hannatu Musawa and facilitated by the Africa International Film Festival (AFRIFF), will see SOOP launch its global content platform in Nigeria, providing creators with new tools, infrastructure, and monetization opportunities.

Formerly known as AfreecaTV, SOOP has built a global reputation as one of the leading digital live-streaming platforms. Its expansion into Nigeria signals a major cultural and economic collaboration between Africa’s largest creative hub and Asia’s thriving tech ecosystem.

“This is a new dawn for our creative industry,” Musawa declared. “SOOP’s presence in Nigeria will empower digital content creators, diversify earnings, and strengthen cultural exchange between our nations.”
