The green-white-green rose tall and unchallenged in Accra as the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) Female Volleyball Team humbled their hosts and rivals to clinch the 2025 Super Volleyball Championship title.
In a tournament meant to test strength, Ghana discovered—painfully—that when it comes to volleyball, Nigeria still wears the continental crown.
Fresh off the high of their male football counterparts lifting the 2025 Maritime Cup, the NCS women marched into the Borteyman Sports Complex on Sunday, November 23, like seasoned conquerors. And they left the entire arena echoing with one truth: Nigeria remains the undisputed powerhouse of African sports.
From the opening whistle, the Customs ladies dismantled the Ghana Navy, crushed the Ghana Immigration team, and outclassed the Ekwak Wings Volleyball Club. By the time they faced the Ghana Air Force in the showdown, the script was already written, and Nigeria was in a league of its own.
They sealed their perfect run with a ruthless 3–0 victory, recording set wins of 25–20, 25–23, and 25–14, a scoreboard that read less like a contest and more like a masterclass.
Deputy Comptroller-General Suleiman Chiroma of TRADOC, glowing with pride, lauded the exceptional discipline and grit of the team. “This victory reflects the resilience and winning mentality we instill across the Service. The girls have shown character, and they have done Nigeria Customs proud.”
He credited the unwavering support of Comptroller-General Adewale Adeniyi, whose investment in sports continues to place the Service at the forefront of regional competitions.
The championship glitter didn’t stop at the team trophy. Nigerian players swept individual awards like a clean harvest:
• Kelechi Genevieve – MVP & Best Opposite
• Maryam Ibrahim – Best Attacker
• Aisha Umar – Best Server
• Bukky Oluwatosin – Best Middle Blocker
• Coach Suleiman Ajeigbe – Best Coach
For Ghana, this defeat on home soil is a bitter pill to swallow. For Nigeria, it is yet another feather in the cap, a reminder that whether on the football pitch or the volleyball court, the Giant of Africa stands tall.
