Nigerian actress Wunmi Mosaku has added another major accolade to her growing collection, winning Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture at the 57th NAACP Image Awards for her role as Annie, a Hoodoo practitioner and spiritual healer, in Ryan Coogler’s supernatural thriller Sinners.
The award was announced on February 26 during the Creative Honours event, a multi-day unveiling of winners leading up to Saturday’s televised main ceremony.
Sinners dominated the film categories, with Delroy Lindo winning Outstanding Supporting Actor and Coogler sweeping both Outstanding Writing and Directing honours.
Mosaku’s NAACP win follows her historic BAFTA victory earlier this month, where she became the first Black woman to win Best Supporting Actress for the same performance.
She is also Oscar-nominated for the role and previously won the Black Reel Award for Outstanding Supporting Performance.
The recognition continues a remarkable awards season for Mosaku, whose portrayal of the mystical Annie has captivated audiences and critics alike.
