Miss Universe Nigeria 2025 Onyinyechi Basil touched down in Thailand on Monday, flag in hand and sash gleaming, to begin her campaign at the 74th Miss Universe pageant holding November 21 in Pak Kret, Nonthaburi (Greater Bangkok).

Clad in a crisp ivory power suit by Yugada Du Moda, the national queen posed at the airport with supporters and the green-white-green, then shared an emotive message to fans: “I went through a roller coaster of emotions reading all your messages and well wishes while in transit—each one a perfect push… The Eagle has officially landed in Thailand, and the gateway to the Universe is open to us! Dear fellow countrymen, please continue to hold my hands as we journey together.”

Her caption accomplishes three things: it converts public goodwill into fuel, frames the mission as Team Nigeria, and keeps the nation engaged through preliminaries, fittings, interviews, swimsuit and evening gown rounds, and fan voting.
Basil earned the crown on August 30 at Lagos’ Balmoral Event Centre, topping a 21-woman field with polished stagecraft and purpose-driven advocacy. She succeeds Chidimma Adetshina and now carries Nigeria’s colors into a fiercely competitive international field.

Next up: registration, orientation, and rehearsals in Bangkok before the televised show. For the diaspora and home front, this is a collective run at glory. As the queen put it, “A girl with a dream, now a woman carrying a nation’s pride… Nigeria, this one’s for you.”
