Global music powerhouse and two-time GRAMMY® Award winner Tems has joined forces with luxury cognac house Hennessy to unveil the Leading Vibe Initiative (LVI) in Lagos, Nigeria. The groundbreaking two-day event, held on August 8–9, marks the beginning of a bold new chapter in Hennessy’s enduring relationship with African music and culture.

Inspired by Tems’ meteoric rise and fearless journey through the music industry, the Leading Vibe Initiative is designed to champion the next wave of female artists, producers, songwriters, and music professionals—giving young women the tools, access, and confidence to thrive across the continent and beyond.
The Lagos launch featured curated workshops, networking sessions, and intimate panel discussions with top African and international music executives, creatives, and cultural leaders. Tems, born Temilade Openiyi, described the mission as deeply personal:

“I’m excited to partner with Hennessy in bringing this initiative to life — supporting talented young women in music as they find their voices, embrace their power, and shape the future of the industry across Africa and beyond,” she said.
Hennessy Global Chief Marketing Officer Vincent Montalescot praised Tems’ artistry and vision:

“Her purpose aligns with Hennessy’s legacy of empowering boundary-breakers. The Leading Vibe Initiative builds on our decades-long commitment to music and is a powerful step toward amplifying women’s voices in African culture.”
With Lagos as its first stop, the initiative aims to expand across Africa and the globe, creating a connected network of empowered women ready to rewrite the future of music — from Afrobeats to the world stage.
