Ogun State governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, took center stage at this year’s iconic Ojúde Oba Festival, resplendent in regal agbádá and coral beads, and delivered a heartfelt message of unity, tradition, and identity to the people of ljebuland.
Governor Abiodun, draped in golden attire with intricate details and matching fila, stood before the revered Awujale, His Royal Majesty Oba (Dr.) Sikiru Kayode Adetona, GCON, and a sea of regberegbe groups—each heartbeat echoing centuries of ljebu culture. “Our appearance was not merely ceremonial; it was a respectful homage to our roots and a visible affirmation of our enduring commitment to the culture that defines us,” the governor declared.

He emphasized that every piece of his outfit was thoughtfully selected, not for spectacle, but to honor the sacredness of the occasion, the royal host, and the values of the ljebu people. “Our presence was never about showmanship; it was a declaration of identity—an expression of grace, tradition, and responsible leadership,” Abiodun stated.
Reflecting on the power of Ojúde Oba, he continued, “As proud sons and daughters of ljebuland, we were deeply honoured to partake in this timeless celebration of our heritage, unity, and unwavering loyalty to the revered throne of the Awujale. Standing before our royal father and our people, we felt the heartbeat of a culture that continues to inspire and unite generations.”
Governor Abiodun closed his remarks with a pledge to safeguard the ljebu legacy: “Together, we will continue to safeguard this vibrant heritage while building a prosperous and inclusive Ogun State that honours its past and embraces its future.”
The Ojúde Oba Festival remains a living testament to the power of culture in uniting communities, and with Abiodun’s commitment, ljebuland’s legacy continues to shine for generations to come.
