In a world where fathers rarely get their flowers, Pastor Akin Obafemi of House of Miracle Evangelical Church (HOME Church) is flipping the script.
Speaking ahead of the church’s highly anticipated Men’s Program themed “Generational God” (Exo 3:15), Pastor Akin shares his vision for why fathers deserve a standing ovation this season.
“The Father’s Day gathering is for the fathers because in our society fathers are not being encouraged the way they should,” Pastor Akin declared in our exclusive sit-down. “If you look at the most important holidays in America, Father’s Day is like number 10. We have Christmas at number 1, Thanksgiving at number 2, Memorial Day at number 3, and Mother’s Day at number 4. But Father’s Day—it’s like number 10. Even Halloween is before Father’s Day! That’s wild. But fathers are important in the house. Fathers are destiny. They are destiny changers.”
Determined to change the narrative, Pastor Akin and HOME Church have rolled out a three-day celebration for fathers:
• Friday, June 13th: Prayer for fathers (7pm–8pm)
• Saturday, June 14th: Brunch and talk session (10am–12pm), with a guest speaker bringing encouragement and practical wisdom for long life and healthy fatherhood
• Sunday, June 15th: Grand finale Thanksgiving Service (11am–2pm), honouring and uplifting fathers in the community
“We need to encourage fathers more. That is why we want to celebrate this program,” Pastor Obafemi explained. “So we have dedicated Friday for prayer, Saturday for bonding, learning and self-care, and Sunday for a grand finale to thank God and motivate fathers in their roles at home.”
Set at 31 Poplar Street, Williamstown NJ, the event will feature an all-star lineup including Pastor Ayo Ibidapo, Bro. David Ehinor, Adeola Awogbamila, and Bro. Uche Imade.
Pastor Obafemi’s leadership is a breath of fresh air, a reminder that fathers matter, and their role in shaping destinies deserves celebration.
HOME Church is setting a powerful example for churches and communities everywhere. This Father’s Day, it’s time for dads to take center stage.
Let the celebration of fathers begin.
