Enugu to launch transport overhaul as Mbah unveils CNG buses with 5 new terminals

Enugu State will on Thursday, August 14, 2025 launch a sweeping upgrade of its urban mobility network, Governor Peter Mbah announced.

The rollout includes the Enugu State Transport Management System (ETMS), commissioning of five brand-new modern bus terminals—including Holy Ghost, Nsukka, Abakpa and Gariki—and the debut of a fleet of CNG-powered buses.

Mbah framed the program as a leap toward “safer, faster, cleaner, and more convenient trips for Ndi Enugu,” calling the initiative a cornerstone of his administration’s push to modernize how residents “move, work, and live.”

What to expect

ETMS: a centralized platform to coordinate routes, scheduling, payments, and traffic management.

Terminals: purpose-built hubs designed to decongest city corridors and streamline passenger flow.

CNG buses: lower-emission vehicles expected to cut fuel costs and reduce urban air pollution.

The governor invited residents to the launch ceremonies, signing off with his campaign mantra: “Tomorrow is here.”
