The National Council for Arts and Culture (NCAC) has officially announced that Enugu State, the legendary “Coal City,” will host the 2025 National Festival of Arts and Culture (NAFEST) from November 22 to 29, 2025, under the electrifying theme: “Connected Culture.” Widely hailed as Nigeria’s “Cultural Olympics,” this week-long spectacle is set to bring over 5,000 competitors from all 36 states and the FCT to the heart of the Southeast.
Enugu, renowned for its hospitality and cultural landmarks like the Ngwo Pine Forest and Awhum Waterfall, is rolling out the red carpet with 300+ hotels, new adventure attractions—including Nigeria’s first zipline and a canopy walkway—and a modern tourism push led by Governor Peter Mbah. The city’s fresh “Enugu Air” airline is already boosting its ambition to attract three million visitors annually.
The festival will feature a power-packed roster of events: from fierce Dambe boxing and wrestling bouts to high-energy music and dance contests like the Swag Show and Dance Off Naija. Culinary giants will clash in the ultimate “Jollof Wars,” while art exhibitions, film screenings, and vibrant workshops will keep the creative flame burning. Superstar-studded opening and closing ceremonies at Opara Square promise fireworks and memories for a lifetime.
NCAC Director General Obi Asika lauded Enugu’s readiness, while Minister of Arts, Culture, and Creative Economy Hannatu Musawa championed the state’s vision of fusing tradition and innovation.
NAFEST 2025 isn’t just an event—it’s a clarion call to unity, diversity, and national pride, set against the intellectual pulse of a region boasting over 27 tertiary institutions.
Come to Enugu. Come for “Connected Culture.” Be part of history as Nigeria celebrates its heritage, innovation, and unbreakable spirit.
