Elvis Donkemezuo travelled to London to show moral support and celebrate the legal victory of former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Diezani Alison-Madueke, following her acquittal by a United Kingdom court.

On June 17, 2026, a jury at the Southwark Crown Court cleared Alison-Madueke of all six bribery-related charges, bringing an 11-year legal ordeal to a close. The court found her not guilty on five counts of accepting bribes and one count of conspiracy to commit bribery. Her brother, Doye Agama, and oil executive Olatimbo Ayinde were also acquitted.

Throughout the high-profile trial, Donkemezuo consistently travelled from Nigeria to London to observe proceedings and provide solidarity. His unwavering support did not go unnoticed. The Ijaw National Congress (INC) Lagos Chapter issued a formal commendation, praising his “uncommon leadership, loyalty, and commitment to justice” for standing firmly by one of the Ijaw nation’s prominent figures during her time of adversity.

Alison-Madueke’s defence successfully argued that the luxury expenses cited by prosecutors were fully reimbursed using personal funds or state allocations for official business.

Her acquittal marks a significant legal victory after years of legal battles.
