Music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs was convicted Wednesday of a prostitution-related federal charge, but acquitted of sex trafficking and racketeering conspiracy—charges that could have sentenced him to life in prison.
The verdict, delivered on the third day of jury deliberations, found Combs guilty under the Mann Act for transporting individuals, including girlfriends and male sex workers, across state lines for illicit sexual activity. The felony carries up to 10 years in prison.
A visibly emotional Combs responded with a prayer gesture and hugged his attorney after the verdict was read. He had faced allegations of coercing women into drug-fueled sex marathons and using wealth and intimidation as control.
Jurors, however, rejected the more serious charges, signaling a partial win for the defense, which argued that Combs’ lifestyle—while controversial—did not constitute federal crimes.
Combs did not testify during the trial. Sentencing is expected in the coming months, with his legal team likely to appeal.
The conviction marks a significant fall for one of hip-hop’s most iconic figures, casting uncertainty over his future in entertainment and business.
