Chinyere Ozalagba has been crowned Miss Africa Golden Nigeria 2026 and will represent the country at the 9th edition of the Miss Africa Golden pageant in Accra, Ghana.
The competition runs from 31 October to 8 November 2026. This year’s edition focuses on promoting Black originality, culture and tourism.
The 24-year-old queen was officially unveiled on Monday, 21 September 2026.
Ozalagba is a Microbiology graduate from Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University. She previously competed as a finalist in Miss World Nigeria 2026, representing Cross River State, and finished as 5th Runner-Up at the Miss Humanity pageant in Beirut in 2021.
She is the founder of Afriqsis Outreach, an initiative focused on menstrual dignity, menstrual health education and free access to sanitary products for young women. Her advocacy centres on breaking menstrual stigma and ensuring girls have access to education, confidence and proper hygiene support.
The Miss Africa Golden International organisation welcomed her in a statement.
“The journey to the crown continues as we proudly welcome Angela Chinyere Ozalagba as the official representative of Nigeria for the 9th Edition of Miss Africa Golden, set to take place in Accra, Ghana,” the organisation said.
“Chinyere joins an inspiring lineup of delegates from across Africa, each bringing her unique story, culture, and passion to a platform that celebrates Black originality, promotes tourism, and empowers the next generation of African women.
“Please join us in congratulating and welcoming Angela Chinyere Ozalagba to the Miss Africa Golden family. We wish her an incredible journey as she proudly represents the beautiful nation of Nigeria.”
Ozalagba passed out of the National Youth Service Corps in June 2025. In March 2025, she won a Zonal Best Speaker certificate of achievement, presented to her by Miss Universe Ghana 2015 second runner-up, Veena.
Her unveiling outfit was designed by Tiife’s Couture, an Ibadan-based custom fashion and tailoring label. Her makeup was done by Nafisat Ewam, a bridal and editorial beauty artist recognised for her work in pageantry and high-profile wedding makeovers.
Ozalagba is expected to depart Nigeria ahead of the 31 October start date.
