New York-based model and former MBGN Tourism Chinyere “Chi” Adogu lit up Lagos Fashion Week in Hertunba’s now-talked-about Dona Dress. This couture statement renders a stylized face across the bodice in blue-black lurex stripes (eyes), a tapered triangle (nose), and bold crimson lips at the waist. The halter silhouette cinches into a full ivory skirt, striking that Hertunba balance of structure and fluidity while letting the art do the talking.

“Hello, it’s me! Back again with another hot look fresh off the Lagos Fashion Week runway from Hertunba,” Adogu captioned the photo set, shot by Tosin Adeaga, as she twirled through the grounds with a lipstick-red mini top-handle to match the dress’s graphic mouth detail. Up close, her braided bun and sculpted glam kept the focus on the garment’s face motif; from afar, the skirt’s movement sold the drama.
Designed by Florentina Agu, the Dona Dress is 100% cotton (dry-clean only) and pure concept: wearable art that invites a double take without sacrificing grace. It’s also Hertunba’s ethos in motion—sustainable, culturally rooted, and unapologetically feminine. The label upcycles up to 90% of excess textiles into décor or patchwork pieces and trains local women artisans in weaving and tailoring, with 10% of net profits funding adult education for women.

Adogu’s appearance underscored why she’s long been a cross-continental favorite—pageant royalty turned media host and philanthropist with credits from Essence to Teen Vogue—and why Lagos Fashion Week remains a proving ground for fresh African luxury. Hertunba’s founder story—Agu sewing from age 13, then launching the brand in 2020 to “weave confidence into clothes”—met its muse in Chi: poised, playful, and camera-ready.
On a night packed with runway highlights, the face that stopped the show wasn’t in the front row—it was on the dress. And Chi wore it like a love letter to Nigerian creativity.
