Chimamanda Adichie to headline ‘Things Fall Apart Festival 2025’ in Enugu

Acclaimed Nigerian author Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie has been announced as the keynote speaker for the upcoming Things Fall Apart Festival 2025, set to take place from June 29 to July 5 at the Centre for Memories in Enugu.

The festival, themed “Masculine, Feminine, Human: The Dialogue of Complements in Things Fall Apart,” is a celebration of the enduring legacy of Chinua Achebe — the literary giant who redefined African storytelling. Adichie, who recently concluded a global tour for her latest book Dream Count, will honor Achebe’s legacy and explore the interplay of gender, culture, and identity in storytelling.

Organized by the Centre for Memories, the week-long festival promises a powerful lineup of events: dramatic performances, memory walks, art exhibitions, film screenings, tech-driven storytelling, salon-style conversations, youth engagements, and a national essay competition.

Adichie’s participation signals a major cultural moment — a homecoming for one of Nigeria’s most celebrated voices, and a tribute to one of her earliest literary inspirations. “Achebe lives. Our stories rise,” the organizers declared in the announcement. “And YOU need to be part of it.”

The festival is endorsed by the Anambra State Government and invites literary lovers, culture enthusiasts, and youth from across Nigeria and beyond to answer the call of Umuofia.
