Nigerian media personality and YouTuber Ogechukwu Osih-Oyelude, host of Timeout With Ogechukwu, lit up the internet this week with a fiery and witty episode titled “At 92, Is Paul Biya Leading Cameroonians to the Grave?”

In the new episode, Osih-Oyelude, dressed sharply in a magenta sleeveless top and anchored by her signature poised delivery, couldn’t hide her disbelief as she dissected the news of Cameroon’s 92-year-old President Paul Biya winning yet another election.
“You see,” she began, locking eyes with the camera, “if you know any Cameroonian at the moment in your circle — friend, acquaintance, whatever — just give that person a hug. A tight, comforting hug. Because these people are going through a lot. They are seeing Shege Pro Max, and the Shege is not about to end anytime soon.”

Her tone, laced with sarcasm and empathy, had fans laughing and lamenting all at once. By the time she added, “Their 92-year-old president, Paul Biya, has just been re-elected once again. Can you imagine that? Anyway, we will leave it there,” the comments section was on fire.
Viewers flooded her page with reactions — a mix of laughter, frustration, and prayers for Cameroon: @LajabuAjibu: “Biya is Cameroonians’ grand papa now.”

@kool2630: “Now is the time for all—individuals, institutions, and both state and non-state actors across Africa—to rise in solidarity with the people of Cameroon and speak out against this alarming abnormality. How can one individual cling to power for over 43 years? Such prolonged rule is not only undemocratic, it is deeply unhealthy for any nation’s political and social fabric.”
@Kingsspeaks: “Europe said we Africans cannot lead ourselves, that is why they have to be involved in telling us what to do. Are they wrong or right?”

A Nation Caught in Eternal Incumbency
Biya, who first took office in 1982, has ruled Cameroon for more than four decades, making him one of the world’s longest-serving leaders. His recent “re-election” — at age 92 — sparked global disbelief, with critics citing the country’s shrinking democratic space and chronic economic stagnation.
The government announced another landslide victory, but opposition figures and civil rights groups claim widespread irregularities. Across social media, many echoed Osih-Oyelude’s satirical tone, calling Biya’s political longevity a “full-time ghostwriting of history.”

The Internet’s Favorite Political Therapist
Known for her balance of humor and hard truth, Osih-Oyelude has become one of Nigeria’s most relatable digital commentators. Her YouTube series, Timeout With Ogechukwu, tackles Nigerian politics, culture, and social issues with a millennial wit that resonates across borders.
This week’s episode may have started with laughter, but beneath the punchlines lay a sober message — that Africa’s youth must start holding on to hope and demanding change, even when leaders refuse to let go of power.

As one viewer aptly commented: @Omoge-w5h: “He is literally leading them to the grave lol.”
With her mix of journalistic finesse and comedy-club honesty of Osih-Oyelude, sometimes, laughter is the only way to survive political déjà vu.
