The pulse of Lagos is set to quicken later this month as American rap superstar Gunna prepares to headline the Detty December Fest, confirming the city’s status as a must-visit global entertainment capital.
The platinum-selling artist is scheduled to perform at the Ilubirin venue in Ikoyi on Sunday, December 28, 2025. His performance is a headline act for the sprawling festival, which runs from December 6 to 31 across key Lagos locations.
This marks a highly anticipated return for Gunna, who made a powerful African debut in Nigeria just last year. During the 2024 Flytime Fest, he delivered an electrifying set that included a standout moment bringing South African star Tyla on stage for a performance of their hit collaboration, ‘Jump’.
His upcoming show is central to a festival line-up that also includes legend Busta Rhymes and East African sensation Juma Jux.
The Nigerian government has endorsed the festival as a major contributor to culture and tourism. For the massive local and diaspora audience expected—often called “IJGBs” (I Just Got Back)—Gunna’s performance represents more than a concert.
It is a celebration of Nigeria’s immense cultural sway, where international stars come to connect with the source of the global Afrobeats wave.
Fans can expect an energetic, intimate show from an artist who has already proven he knows how to ride Lagos’s vibrant and unforgettable “detty” vibe.
