Nigerian US-based rapper Wale has earned a nomination for Album of the Year at the 2026 BET Awards for his eighth studio album, Everything Is a Lot.

The nominations were announced on Tuesday, May 19, 2026. Wale’s introspective 18‑track project, released through Def Jam Recordings, marks his first major studio album since 2021.

It heavily honours his Nigerian heritage and features standout collaborations with African stars including Seyi Vibez, ODUMODUBLVCK, and Teni.

Wale faces stiff competition in the category, which includes Cardi B’s Am I The Drama?, Tyler, the Creator’s Don’t Tap The Glass, Clipse’s Let God Sort Em Out, J. Cole’s The Fall‑Off, and Bruno Mars’ The Romantic, among others.

The album has been praised for its lyrical depth and cultural authenticity, blending hip‑hop with Afrobeats influences. Wale, born to Nigerian parents in Washington, D.C., has consistently celebrated his roots throughout his career.

The 2026 BET Awards will air live from the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles on June 28, with comedian Druski hosting.
