A loose horse caused panic and minor injuries on a highway in Gona, Akko Local Government Area of Gombe State, after it broke free and galloped through moving traffic.
The animal escaped from its handler or event space and bolted down a wide two-lane asphalt corridor, weaving through passenger motorcycles and yellow commercial tricycles known as Keke Napep.
Bystanders shouted warning cries as the horse ran down the right shoulder of the road.
The first victim, a man walking away from the road on the left pavement, was clipped from behind as the horse swerved slightly to avoid a passing motorbike.
Further down the road, a pedestrian was struck violently from behind. The impact knocked him off his feet and onto the pavement, scattering his belongings.
