The influencer, who hails from Kitgum in northern Uganda, shared her remarkable airport experience from her first trip two years ago. Upon arrival, she discovered her travel documents were fraudulent—obtained from a scam website. Despite the irregularity, Nigerian migration officers processed her quickly, telling her, “If you were not an African girl, we would have deported you back to your country. But since you’re an African, they made an effort.”

Concerned for her safety as a lone woman travelling at night, a migration officer personally escorted her to her accommodation.

“Nigeria is a home for all Africans,” Gladys stated. “Forget that boundary. If you are an African, you will feel welcome. You will not hear, ‘Which country are you from, hiding in our country?’ I feel so at home. I don’t even feel like I’ve left my country.”

Gladys, known for her African fashion, dance, and lifestyle content across Instagram and YouTube, urged others to visit. Her testimony has since sparked conversations about African unity and cross-border hospitality.
