A Ugandan woman has been arrested at Murtala Muhammed International Airport with 87 wraps of cocaine strapped around her pelvic region beneath two layers of underwear. This is not a metaphor.
Farida Nansubuga, 34, was intercepted on Tuesday, 3 November 2026, at Terminal 2 while attempting to board a flight to Uganda. The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency says officers found the wraps — roughly 1.15 kilogrammes of cocaine — during a private secondary search.
Her explanation is a full Nollywood script. If you are a fan of Nollywood films, you will understand this. Nansubuga told investigators she arrived in Lagos on 29 October with members of her church for a prayer session at the Synagogue Church of All Nations in Ikotun. The rest of the delegation flew home. She stayed behind to collect a consignment for a friend in Uganda named Joy.
Joy, apparently, connected her to a Nigerian contact who arranged transport to a hotel on the morning of her departure. A man handed over the cocaine and instructed her to hide it under her clothing to beat security. Her fee for the delivery: at least $1,000.
So: prayers, a friend called Joy, a hotel handoff, and 87 wraps in a place no customs officer wants to search. The Lord works in mysterious ways, but this is not one of them.
The NDLEA says investigations are ongoing to identify the Nigerian contact and the friend called Joy. Nansubuga remains in custody. No court date has been announced.
For now, the only thing Joy has delivered is a very expensive lesson.
