The 2026 AMVCA red carpet has witnessed many things. But a gown that doubles as sculpture? A dress with its own halo? That belongs to Osas Ighodaro – and the genius of Veekee James.
The actress and former beauty queen arrived at the Eko Convention Centre in what can only be described as wearable architecture. Fire‑engine red, sculptural, unapologetically futuristic – it was a masterpiece built on nude illusion mesh with horizontal satin bands, some plain, others encrusted with red crystals like scattered rubies.
The strapless, corset‑boned bodysuit cinched her waist, then flared into an exaggerated hip shelf before dropping into a straight column skirt. Between the bands, the gown was completely sheer.
The showpiece was a massive, free‑standing spiral that began at her left shoulder, wrapped around her back, and arched over her head like a coiled serpent – made from the same sheer‑and‑satin bands.
Her styling was minimal: a sleek platinum blonde low bun by @touchofibee, soft glam makeup by House of Aphrodity, and huge diamond chandelier earrings. No necklace needed.
Photographer Felix Crown captured the look against a black background with red light trails. In one frame, the halo covered her face like a sheer lampshade – mysterious, powerful, unforgettable.
The 2026 AMVCA will be remembered for many things. But years from now, when we talk about Nigerian fashion ascending, we will point to this night, this gown, this halo. No cage could ever hold her.
