Afrobeats superstar Davido has added another rare gem to his garage.
His 2026 Mercedes‑Maybach SL 680 Monogram Series – the first two‑seat open‑top luxury roadster to bear the Maybach name – touched down in Lagos on Thursday, imported from the United States in collaboration with M J Autos.
The arrival was announced by Supercars of Nigeria, the prominent automotive lifestyle platform run by Ladi Bentley. “Courtesy @m_jautos, our Maybach SL680 belonging to @davido don touch down Lagos this morning o….. probably first in Nigeria, I need to test drive it,” the post read.
A new kind of Maybach
Starting at a base MSRP of $224,900 (over ₦1.2 billion after import duties and taxes), the SL 680 transforms the sporty Mercedes‑AMG SL 63 into an ultra‑luxury touring machine.
Under the hood lies a handcrafted 4.0-litre twin‑turbo V8 producing 577 horsepower and 590 lb‑ft of torque, paired with a 9‑speed automatic and 4MATIC+ all‑wheel drive. It sprints from 0‑60 mph in 4.0 seconds, with a top speed of 161 mph – but the focus is on quiet, composed comfort, not raw aggression.
Two‑tone artistry
Davido’s unit features the “White Ambience” design concept: a matte MANUFAKTUR Moonlight White Magno exterior with a contrasting Obsidian Black hood, hand‑sanded with a pattern of Graphite Grey Maybach logos via a specialised PixelPaint process. The three‑layer black fabric soft top embeds the repeating Maybach monogram.
Inside, Crystal White Nappa Leather (tanned using coffee bean shells) wraps the cockpit, while the rear seats are replaced with a leather‑lined storage deck.
The twin seats offer cooling, heating, massage, and Airscarf neck‑level heating. A Burmester 3D Surround Sound system completes the luxury suite.
With the car now on Nigerian soil, fans await the first sighting of Davido cruising Lagos in his new multi‑billion‑naira masterpiece.
