Sanwo-Olu, sharing details of the meeting via his official channels, said the discussions centred on storytelling, the arts, and the expanding opportunities that continue to define Lagos as a leading hub for talent and innovation.

“I received Nigerian-British actor, director, and producer David Oyelowo on a courtesy visit at Lagos House, Marina,” the governor stated. “We had a warm conversation about the creative industry, storytelling, and the opportunities that continue to position Lagos as a leading hub for talent and innovation.”

Oyelowo, known globally for his portrayal of Dr Martin Luther King Jr. in the Academy Award-nominated film Selma and for producing and starring in projects that bridge Hollywood and African narratives, is a prominent voice in the push for authentic African storytelling on the world stage.

The visit underscores the Sanwo-Olu administration’s sustained engagement with the creative sector, which has become a key pillar of the state’s economic diversification agenda.

Lagos remains the nerve centre of Nollywood and Nigeria’s broader entertainment industry, contributing significantly to employment and cultural export.

The meeting signals continued high-level interest in strengthening ties between the government and global creative professionals to unlock the sector’s potential further.
