A fresh wave of romance has hit Nigerian television with the premiere of “Heartbeat,” a new dating reality show that debuted on Africa Magic Showcase on January 11, 2026.
The 12-week series brings together 10 singles—five men and five women—in a custom-designed “Love Pad” where they navigate attraction, emotional connection, and compatibility through carefully crafted games and challenges.
Hosted by media entrepreneur Seyitan Atigarin, the show distinguishes itself from conventional dating formats by prioritising emotional groundedness over manufactured conflict.
Contestants engage in vulnerability exercises and honest dialogues designed to test emotional intelligence alongside romantic chemistry.
The diverse cast includes writer and podcaster Chidera Eggerue (The Slumflower), entrepreneur Queen Latifah, Ghanaian actress Hilda Braso Agyekum, and men like oil and gas professional Igwe Cruise and nightclub owner Ikenna Damian Maduba.
At season’s end, couples face the “Promise Lock”—a symbolic pledge to continue their relationship beyond the house. New episodes air Sundays at 9:00 PM on Africa Magic Showcase (DStv Channel 151/GOtv Channel 8), with catch-up available on DStv Stream and Showmax.
