Aisha Hanan Buhari has been honoured as one of Africa’s 100 Most Notable Peace Icons at the 2026 Leadership and Business Summit, held from June 26–28 at Marrakech’s Palais des Festivals et des Congrès.

The award, presented by the Davdan Peace and Advocacy Foundation, recognised her outstanding humanitarian service, social justice advocacy, and community empowerment through the Hanan Buhari Foundation.

In her acceptance speech, Buhari described the recognition as a significant responsibility and dedicated the honour to her husband and her father, former Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari. “Thank you to the Kingdom of Morocco. God bless Morocco,” she told Morocco World News.

The Hanan Buhari Foundation actively supports minors and victims of sexual violence in Nigeria, providing legal assistance, arts therapy, and psychological recovery programs.

Buhari acknowledged the recognition despite the foundation’s inability to publicise the identities of those it helps.

The 100 Most Notable Africans Leadership and Business Summit celebrates African leaders contributing to peace and community development.

This edition marked the event’s first time in Morocco.
