Grace Ladoja, the highly influential Nigerian UK-based music manager and cultural curator, has revealed she has been privately undergoing treatment for breast cancer.
In a candid and emotional Instagram Live session on Monday, the founder of the HOMECOMING festival shared details of her journey, from a routine check-up to a gruelling chemotherapy schedule, to inspire others and raise awareness.
Ladoja, a notoriously private figure, explained her recent absence, stating, “I just wanted to give a little update of where I’ve been and what’s been going on.”
She revealed that a routine check-up led to a diagnosis of DCIS, a non-invasive Stage 0 breast cancer. “I wasn’t sick. I had no symptoms,” she explained. Following the diagnosis, she underwent a mastectomy in October 2025.
However, the post-surgery histology report delivered a shocking blow. “Sadly for me, they had discovered a more invasive stage 2 cancer in the tissue,” Ladoja shared. “It was like all these words in my head were just going round and round. I was just overwhelmed. It was insane.”
Doctors advised her to start chemotherapy as soon as possible. In the brief window she had, Ladoja decided to freeze her eggs before beginning the intensive treatment.

“I had to do 12 weeks of chemotherapy weekly, every Monday for 12 weeks,” she said, detailing the immense challenge of “flying back and forth from Nigeria to London” for the sessions.
Having just completed that phase, she expressed immense relief and gratitude. “I just finished those 12 weeks, and I feel so blessed that I survived that, ‘cos it is really intense,” she said, her voice filled with emotion. “It has been such a crazy chapter in my life, and I just wanted to thank God for just going ahead of me in every step.”
Ladoja emphasised that her journey is not over, with more treatments and surgeries ahead. She used her experience to deliver a powerful message about compassion and self-care.
“It’s just a reminder that people are going through so many things. So just be kind,” she urged. “You look at me, you would never think that I’m going through what I’m going through… It’s been the hardest chapter of my life ever.”
With her birthday approaching this week, Ladoja said she felt reflective and thankful. She explained that while she is a very private person, she felt this subject was too important to keep to herself.
“I just feel like this journey in particular is such an important subject that I think we have to talk about it more,” she concluded. “Use this as some inspiration to just make sure you’re prioritising yourself… just look after yourselves.”
