Shortly after the announcement, Nwodim took to social media to share her excitement with fans. “Thank you, thank you, thank youuuu to the NAACP Image Awards for nominating me once again!!!” she shared. “My heart is beaming with love and gratitude.”

Career Milestones

This recognition marks a major milestone in a banner year for Nwodim, who recently confirmed her exit from the long-running sketch show after seven seasons. Speaking at the Critics’ Choice Awards last week, she noted that leaving SNL “on a high note” was a priority, describing her time on the show as a period of immense professional growth.

A Competitive Field

In one of the evening’s most anticipated categories, Nwodim is nominated alongside several powerhouse performers:

Edwina Finley – The Residence (Netflix)
Janelle James – Abbott Elementary (ABC)
Jerrie Johnson – Harlem (Prime Video)
Wanda Sykes – The Upshaws (Netflix)

Awards Season Momentum

Beyond this nomination, Nwodim is already a major fixture of the 2026 awards circuit. She is slated to host the 41st Film Independent Spirit Awards on February 15, taking over the role previously held by SNL alum Aidy Bryant.

The 57th NAACP Image Awards, themed “We See You,” will air live on Saturday, February 28, 2026, at 8:00 p.m. ET/PT on BET and CBS.

Fans can support their favourite nominees by voting online through February 7.
