Lagos-based Ghanaian actress and filmmaker Juliet Ibrahim is set to be inducted into the Directors Guild of Nigeria (DGN) as part of its Class of 2026.

The induction ceremony will take place on Friday, 21 August 2026, in Lagos, during the closing events of the week-long Directors’ Week and DGN Awards 2026.

Ibrahim, who is widely described as a Nigeria-based Ghanaian actress due to the extensive portion of her career operating out of Nollywood, announced the milestone on her official Instagram page. She described directing as more than calling “action” and “cut.”

“For me, directing has always been more than calling ‘action’ and ‘cut.’ It is about vision, leadership, storytelling, and the responsibility of bringing stories to life in ways that can move people, challenge perspectives, and leave an impact,” she wrote.

Ibrahim said the vetting process was rigorous. “It wasn’t an easy one; I was drilled for sure, but I look forward to learning, contributing, collaborating and continuing to champion African stories on the global stage,” she added.

Over more than two decades, she has built a career across Nollywood and Ghallywood as an actress, producer and entrepreneur, with Lagos serving as her primary professional base. In recent years, she has moved behind the camera, creating and directing her own projects.

She signed off her announcement with her new professional description: “Juliet Ibrahim — Actor • Filmmaker • Director.”

The ceremony is expected to bring together filmmakers and industry executives from across the country.
